Izumisano Southern Park is a disaster-prevention park of roughly 4ha that opened in the southern area of the city of Izumisano in April 2018. The park is a base for temporary evacuation and disaster assistance in the unlikely event of a disaster, but during normal times it can be used as a multipurpose sports ground for sports and recreation, as it includes soccer and baseball/softball fields, and tennis courts. As a multipurpose sports ground, it features an artificial-turf soccer field (105m×68m), a baseball field with 85m wings, and 4 sand-based artificial-turf tennis courts, and encourages the promotion of sports by holding sports competitions and the like.
LED lighting was used as the lighting equipment for the multipurpose sports ground from the perspectives of power savings and life-cycle costs, with 560W LEDioc FLOOD DUELL high-output LED floodlights being used for the soccer and baseball fields, and 500W LEDioc TENNISTER LED lighting fixtures, which have been designed for outdoor tennis courts, used for the tennis courts. The average brightness for each kind of competition is at least 200ℓx for soccer, at least 300ℓx for the infield and at least 200ℓx for the outfield for baseball, at least 200ℓx for the infield and at least 100ℓx for the outfield for softball, and at least 300ℓx for tennis, contributing to reductions in power consumption while ensuring sufficient brightness.
The park interior also has an open grassy area and children's play area and is used by the public as a place of relaxation and refreshment. Five units of LED solar lights have been installed in the mall lights for those areas, as a provision in case of a scenario where the power supply from power companies becomes unusable in the event of a disaster.
