Designed and developed to highlight the rich natural environment which surrounds it, the wide open site of Chikuho Ryokuchi wellness park located in Fukuoka Prefecture is equipped with a broad range of sporting facilities, including a baseball field, tennis courts, all-purpose sports field and swimming pool; also featuring various other recreational amenities such as an open grass field, open air stage area, waterside plaza, suspension bridge and equipment to encourage fitness and activity, the park is widely appreciated by the public as a relaxing place to enjoy sports and recreational activities. Spanning 116m along the center field and 91m each side along the outfield, the baseball ground is equipped with seating for 2956 spectators and lighting for night games, hosting both baseball and rubber baseball matches.

Completed in October 2023, the lighting at the ground was updated to LED by the prefectural authorities, with LEDioc FLOOD AVANT class 700 floodlights replacing the existing 130 unit installation of 1500W metal halide lamps. Retaining and reusing all four lighting masts from the existing scheme and replacing only the luminaires with newer LED floodlights, illuminance levels have been maintained despite a near 20% reduction in the number of installed units to 106, contributing greatly towards delivering major reductions in consumption and cost. The grounds are efficiently illuminated through a combination of three types of beam models, meeting the requirements of the JIS Lighting Standards (Category II for baseball) with a highly uniform lit environment.

The scheme was also designed to minimize the impact of glare upon players, with luminaires variously positioned to avoid direct aim into the line of sight, providing a high-quality lighting environment in which play can also be enjoyed in nighttime.
