Located in the Aoba Ward of Yokohama City, Tokyu Azamino Tennis Garden is a tennis school equipped with both climate controlled indoor courts, and outdoor courts where players can enjoy seasonality with their tennis. The nine outdoor courts with sand-filled artificial turf are accompanied by a clubhouse, a reception area, a lounge, locker rooms and shower rooms.
Of the nine outdoor courts, four are equipped with lighting for nighttime play, and upgrade works were undertaken to replace the existing 1000W metal halide lamps with the latest model of LEDioc TENNISTER class 400 - a compact and lightweight floodlight designed specifically for use on outdoor tennis courts. The site is also home to the Adidas Futsal Park Azamino, which acts as a base for Tokyu S Reyes Football Club. Equipped with outdoor courts both a long pile artificial turf court for a natural turf-like experience, and also short pile artificial turf (both 39m x 19m), facilities also include male and female changing rooms, shower rooms, and locker rooms. The popular and much-used courts are of course available for group hire, but also offer "Individual Futsal" sessions where anyone is able to come along and participate. As with the tennis courts, LEDioc TENNISTER floodlights were selected for the lighting upgrade works on the futsal courts, maintaining the illuminance levels of the existing scheme whilst also delivering major energy savings.
When planning the lighting schemes for both the tennis and futsal courts, due consideration was given to their location within the Azamino Gardens site which is home to a variety of commercial and sporting facilities which harmonize with their surroundings; furthermore the presence of residential areas in the vicinity made it imperative to minimize light spillage whilst still delivering a comfortable playing environment at night. The works continue to receive positive feedback, with customers commenting that the satisfying brightness have been kept.
