Glare minimizing LED floodlights provide comfortable light for races with later start times in the summer season
Add to My ListLocated on the coast of the Sea of Japan, the JRA (Japan Racing Association) accredited Niigata Racecourse features the first 1000m straight line grass track seen in Japan, which is geared towards experiencing the true thrill of racing. Also equipped with the longest grass outer course in Japan with a lap length of around 2223m, as well as an inner course and dirt track, the venue is popular amongst horse racing fans as one where a variety of exciting races can be enjoyed.
In July 2024 the JRA completed a program of renovation works on the outdoor lighting facilities at the course, with its key objective being to deliver ample track illuminance levels and in turn facilitate later start times for races during the summer season as part of measures to deal with extreme heat.
The LEDioc FLOOD ZEST 1100 and 500 class LED floodlights newly installed on the patrol tower, concrete pillars and the roof of the stand offer the benefits of not only being highly efficient, but also being effective at minimizing glare. Average horizontal illuminance of 110ℓx or more as specified by design standards is fulfilled on both the turf and dirt course, and the scheme is also designed to deliver the standard values for vertical illuminance before and after the finish line. With the track enjoying bright, highly uniform light levels achieved through a combination of floodlights in wide, medium, and narrow beam angle types, spectators are able to enjoy the dynamism and excitement of the racing action in full, through to the very last race.
