Paddocks located behind the stand. The area is efficiently illuminated by LEDioc FLOOD DUELL 800W type floodlights mounted on masts at a height of around 15m, creating a light scene with high levels of uniformity and color rendering.
Affectionately known as "Donko" Racecourse from its opening in Minato Ward, Nagoya, in 1949 and through to its recent relocation to what was previously the Yatomi Training Center in Yatomi City, Aichi Prefecture, the new Nagoya Racecourse was opened in at its new site in April 2022. Whilst retaining and repairing much of the existing facilities, new facilities to upgrade the site to a racecourse were also installed, including a spectator stand, nighttime lighting scheme, accommodation for training staff, and an open plaza. At 1180m, the length of the dirt course is 80m longer than the 1100m length of its predecessor at the previous Nagoya Racecourse site; the home stretch has also been extended by 46m from 194m to 240m, making it the longest of any regional racecourse in the West of Japan. With its compact and stylish design, the three-storey main stand covers a construction area of 2700m², total floor area of 5400m² and seats 574 spectators; an open plaza has been established adjacent to it, working to a concept of bringing a park-like atmosphere to the racecourse and making it accessible for all.
The introduction of night races at the new Nagoya Racecourse has given the course the additional appeal of bringing the excitement of racing to the night. With the benefits offered by LED lighting such as high energy efficiency, low maintenance, and the convenience of instant illumination, it was seen as the right light source to deliver safe and bright lighting conditions to the night races; offering high efficiency, high color rendering, high power, and heavy duty anti-corrosion protection packed into a compact design, LEDioc FLOOD DUELL 910W type - High Color Rendering Model floodlights were subsequently selected for the installation. Lighting along the track from behind the horses towards the direction of travel, and with an installation configuration that ensures not to obscure the view from judge seats of the finishing line or any of the starting points, an excellent visual environment with minimal glare has been achieved.
LEDioc FLOOD DUELL 910W type - High Color Rendering Model floodlights have also been mounted atop the roof of the main stand to illuminate the home stretch, and specially modified high color rendering LEDioc FLOOD BLITZ 60W type floodlights at the finish line help to enhance visibility with a view to photo finish imaging needs; with light being arranged to provide illuminance levels appropriate to each area, a safer, brighter, and more comfortable lighting scene is provided for night racing.
