Comfortable lighting design for a venue scheduled to host The JAPAN GAMES (national sports tournaments)
Add to My ListEstablished in 1944 originally as the Saga Prefectural Karatsu Industrial school, the Saga Prefectural Karatsu Technical High School as it is presently known, is an establishment rich in tradition which is able to boast an enviable record of achievement over its 77 year history.
Lighting upgrade works carried out in the school's sports hall in September 2021 saw the installation of new LED luminaires. With the hall due to host basketball matches during the JAPAN GAMES (national sports tournament) scheduled for 2024, a great deal of time and deliberation was dedicated to the selection of the fixtures as there was a need to fulfil stringent lighting design criteria in addition to offering wireless control compatibility. After much careful consideration LEDioc HIGH-BAY Γ 420W luminaires operated on the Wi-CONNECTY wireless lighting controls system were selected to replace the existing 1000W metal halide lamps. With the venue intended for future use following the aforementioned tournament, as a disaster evacuation site in addition to its regular use as a facility for the school's sports club activities, the existing wiring arrangement has been retained and reused in creating a system able to respond to and accommodate a variety of uses; the change to LED lighting has created a high-quality lighting environment where visibility has been improved whilst also providing improved energy savings.
