LED lighting for comfort at playing fields cherished as a place of sports and recreation
Add to My ListAided by a grant awarded through the sports promotion lottery "toto", the city of Sakuragawa undertook works in October 2021 to upgrade the lighting of the Makabe Playing Fields to LED, which included the installation of new fixtures, mounts and electric bug killers; the existing lighting columns were retained and newly equipped with high-efficiency, high-output LEDioc FLOOD ZEST Simple model: class 500 floodlights.
The project has seen the installation of a total of 96 units, combining medium and wide beam angle models across 4 columns mounted with 12 luminaires each, and 6 columns with 8 luminaires each, achieving significant energy savings without reducing the number of installed units.
Through installing 'class 500' floodlights which offer brightness levels equivalent to 1kW metal halide lamps, the average surface illumination level has been increased from 131ℓx to 250ℓx (407ℓx infield / 237ℓx outfield), providing bright and comfortable lighting for the popular facilities which are widely enjoyed by residents as a place to enjoy various sporting and recreational activities such as baseball, softball and soccer amongst others.
