The Shin-Tomei Expressway (between Hamamatsu Inasa Junction and Toyota Higashi Junction) opened on 13 February 2016.
With the opening of that 55km section connected with the roughly 145km between Gotenba Junction and Hamamatsu Inasa Junction, the double network of the Shin-Tomei Expressway has expanded to a total length of roughly 200km.
Together with the Shin-Meishin Expressway, it has drastically shortened the movement times between the Kanto, Chubu, and Kansai areas, and can be expected to be an important major route in Japan facilitating the smooth flow of people and items and enhancing links between the three major metropolitan areas.
