about

Installation date

February, 2016

Keio-Katakura Station is an above-ground station with 2 lines and facing platforms on the Keio Corporation's Takao Line. In February of 2016, work was carried out to change the lighting for the station platforms to LED, with LEDioc AREA ALIVIO lights being installed in place of the previous 400W and 200W mercury lamps. The platforms are oblong in shape, so after selecting fixtures that disperse light horizontally, they were arranged at intervals that take light continuity into account. This ultimately reduced the number of lights, contributing to power savings. Furthermore, light-bleed into the surrounding area has also been taken into account, with fixtures able to adjust light dispersal in the vertical direction being used. Creation of a suitable lighting environment and large-scale reductions in power consumption have been successfully achieved, and the platforms are brightly and safely lit at night.
