Lighting a spacious rail yard with LED lighting realizes a significant reduction in power consumption while creating a bright and safe lighting environment
Add to My ListLocated in Tokyo's Adachi Ward, Ayase Rail Yard measures 750m north to south and 190m east to west. Its vast 141810m² of space makes the site the largest rail yard on the Tokyo subway, and the site includes the Ayase inspection zone and the Ayase workshop, which are used for train inspections, etc. Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd., has been moving forward with the introduction of LED lighting for station premises, train carriages and station facilities as part of its promotion of power savings, and is proceeding with a sequential conversion to LED lighting for its rail yards.
Ayase Rail Yard carried out a change to LED in March 2018, with 2 units of 80W LEDioc FLOOD BLITZ LED floodlights being installed in place of the existing twin 400W mercury lamps installed on the overhanging power racks. In addition, 40VA LEDioc STREET LED crime-prevention lights were used depending on location, creating a lighting environment that contributes to power and maintenance savings while ensuring a brightness equivalent to that of the previous lighting.
Since the upgrade to LED lighting, power consumption is less than half what it was, and the consensus is that a large reduction in power consumption and a bright, safe lighting environment have both been made possible.
