  • Artificially reproducing exterior environmental conditions such as light, heat, rain and wind, weather resistance testing systems allow for the effects of deterioration to be observed and evaluated, and the EYE SUPER UV TESTER SUV-W262 delivers a rate of accelerated weathering amongst the fastest of its kind.

  • The EYE SUPER UV TESTER SUV-W262 system offers an astonishing rate of accelerated weathering, capable of reproducing the effects of 10 years' worth of outdoor exposure within approximately 1000 hours.

  • The 8-inch touchscreen controls panel offers an interface with high visibility and operability.

  • With a large effective irradiation area and a testing board that can be drawn out, materials can be easily grouped together for testing.

  • Daytime exterior view of the KF Technical Center.

Headquartered in Minato City, Tokyo, KF Chemicals, Ltd. operates across a total of four businesses, with its architectural paints, construction, and civil engineering businesses joining its chemical business, which has been its core business since the foundation in 1951. With the opening in March 2021 of its new research and development (R&D) hub, the KF Technical Center, in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, the company has established an organizational structure where high quality, cutting edge R&D can now be conducted as an integrated part of the company.

At KF Chemicals the utmost care is taken in the establishing and maintaining the quality of the products it handles. For assisting with the development and evaluation of various high weather resistance products, three units of Iwasaki Electric's EYE SUPER UV TESTER SUV-W262 accelerated weathering tester were installed at the KF Technical Center. The decision to install these units was based on the fact that they offered capabilities surpassing the facilities that the company had previously been outsourcing its testing to, and also its compatibility with gathered data which had previously been collated. Using metal halide lamps as the light source, the system is capable of producing high intensity UV irradiation, accelerating the testing process to over 10x speed comparing to the xenon lamp type. The testing board can accommodate up to around 80 samples, and the full operation of all three units has made an ever more efficient and rapid testing process possible.

Furthermore the capacity to correlate data with verification testing that has been taking place over the course of 10 years in Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture, has seen the systems being highly valued for their role in the R&D of high quality products, as they back up ultra-weather resistant properties with data and testing.
