Azabu Sports Field is a sports field operated by Minato Ward that features an outdoor, natural-turf softball field and 4 sand-based artificialturf tennis courts. Is located next to Arisugawa-no-miya Memorial Park, which is highly popular as an oasis of greenery in the center of the city, in a good position just under a 10-minute walk from Hiroo subway station. In March of 2017, Minato Ward undertook renovation work on the night-game lighting equipment for the tennis courts, upgrading the existing mercury lamps to LED lighting. The renovations involved a change to side-lighting from 6m poles out of consideration for light bleed into the surrounding areas, so LEDioc TENNISTER specialist tennis court LED lighting fixtures were selected. 8 units were installed for each court with a focus on uniformity, ensuring the same brightness that was offered before the upgrade: 500ℓx, which is the recommended brightness for Division II competitions. Brightness has been maintained with light from LEDs, which contribute to large-scale power savings, creating a pleasant and highly uniform visual environment. The opening hours for the tennis courts change depending on the season, but from April to October they are 8 AM until 9 PM, which means that users can enjoy playing tennis at night under comfortable night-game lighting.
