  • The ITACS-LC lighting control system installed in the central monitoring room of Building No.2 on campus is used in combination with ITACS CONNECTY wireless expansion units installed on the roof of the building and at each facility to provide lighting control for the rugby field and soccer pitch from a remote location via wireless communication.

Nippon Sport Science University is a prestigious private university headquartered in Setagaya ward, Tokyo, that has produced a number of top athletes, including Olympic athletes, as well as coaches and sports scientists since its founding in 1891. The university boasts Japan's top-level sports facilities and equipment, and the vast 170000m² of the Yokohama Kenshidai Campus, located in Aoba ward in Yokohama City and enclosed in greenery, has a full range of sports facilities that includes a gymnasium, athletics field, gymnastic arena, pool, rugby field, soccer pitch, baseball field, and tennis courts.

Nippon Sport Science University is progressively promoting the use of LEDs in outdoor exercise facilities, aiming to reduce the electricity and management costs for its large facilities, and in October 2019 it carried out renovation work on the lighting for its rugby field and soccer pitch, completing a change to LED lighting that uses a wireless lighting control system. Each underwent an upgrade, with the existing 68×1000W HID floodlights metal halide lamps and 40×940W high pressure sodium lamps on the dedicated all-artificial-turf rugby field replaced with 72×830W LEDioc FLOOD DUELL high-power LED floodlights, and the existing 52×1000W HID floodlights halide lamps and 60×940W high pressure sodium lamps on the soccer pitch, which uses long-pile artificial turf and has seating for up to 500 people, replaced with 60×830W LEDioc FLOOD DUELL high-power LED floodlights, reducing the number of lights while ensuring a brightness equivalent to or greater than that prior to the change, and achieving reductions in maintenance and running costs.

Existing equipment at both facilities such as the towers and stands have been kept and used, but by converting the lighting to LED and employing wireless remote-control of the lighting via the "ITACS-LC" lighting control system and "ITACS CONNECTY" wireless expansion units, electricity bills have been significantly reduced and lighting-management efficiency has improved. In addition, by setting dimming patterns according to the kind of use, such as for regular practice or competition matches, and by using designs that enable efficient use at appropriate and suitable brightnesses, a great lighting environment conducive to comfortable practice or matches at night has been created.
