about

Installation date

March, 2018

Gyoda Municipal Gymnasium (Gyoda Green Arena) has a full range of facilities including a central main arena, a sub-arena, dojo for judo and kendo, table tennis room, training room, meeting rooms, and study rooms, and since it opened in April 1995 has been widely used by citizens as a place for sports and recreation and also as the venue for a variety of official competitions.

From December 2017 until March 2018, the city of Gyoda carried out earthquake-resistance renovation work for nonstructural elements such as the suspended ceiling in the main arena, and at the same also changed the high ceiling lighting fixtures and lighting fixtures installed for the running course and above the spectator seating to LED lighting. The main arena is an open space that can be used for 3 volleyball or basketball courts, or 12 badminton courts, and has 2886 spectator seats (including portable seats). It also has a running course with a roughly 255m circuit surrounding the spectator seating.

The lighting renovations replaced the existing 1000W metal halide lamps with the same number of 320W LEDioc HIGH-BAY α LED high ceiling lighting fixtures in the same positions, ensuring an equivalent or greater brightness while achieving large-scale power savings. A variety of lighting patterns for different usage scenarios have been set, such as 1/2 or 1/3 illumination, and the convenient LED lighting that can be turned on or off instantaneously has enabled more flexible operation. Also of note is the long operating life of the LED modules of 60000 hours, which contributes to maintenance savings. LEDioc LED Downlights have been used for the light for the high-ceilinged running course and spectator seating, creating a brighter and more comfortable lighting environment.
