Location

Situated in a hilly area not far from the central area of Uwajima City, Maruyama Park is a place offering scenery to be enjoyed across all seasons. Equipped with a wide range of sports facilities, including an athletics stadium, a multipurpose ground, and a baseball field, it is widely enjoyed by local residents as a community hub where a variety of sports can be practiced and also played competitively. Also featuring a landscaped garden and an educational botanical garden, as well as an interaction square and a sports square furnished with large scale playground equipment, the site is a popular venue that offers a variety of options both for relaxation and more active entertainment.

With seating for 500 people, the artificial turfed multipurpose ground hosts a variety of sports, including soccer and ground golf, and it has hosted various official matches. In April 2024 the city of Uwajima carried out works to update the lighting installations both at the South Tennis Courts and the multipurpose ground to LED, with 800W LEDioc FLOOD DUELL LED floodlights selected to replace the existing HID floodlights in the multipurpose ground; delivering a sustained average illuminance level of 200ℓx, the scheme is designed to meet the requirements of a variety of sports and activities. Meanwhile, the six all-weather artificial turf courts at the South Tennis Courts are now illuminated by LEDioc TENNISTER class 400 LED lighting fixtures for outdoor tennis courts, which have replaced the existing arrangement; through a scheme designed to account for the rapid movement of tennis balls whilst also delivering a sustained average illuminance of 300ℓx, the resulting playing environment is a high quality one that can be enjoyed beyond daylight hours. One of the practice wall courts now also provides a comfortable playing environment by night, benefitting from the efficient illumination provided by newly installed LEDioc FLOOD AVANT class 150 LED floodlights.

These LED lighting upgrades have not only improved levels of safety and comfort for players by delivering a high-quality night game lighting environment, but they also contribute greatly towards energy savings and reductions in environmental impact.
