A change to LED for the night-game lighting for a ball-sports field enabling the enjoyment of a variety of sports creates a pleasant lighting environment
Add to My ListEdogawa City Rinkai Ball-Game Field uses the roughly 50000m² of space on top of the Kasai Water Recycling Center to provide a full range of facilities including 4 youth-baseball fields (2 fields when used normally), 2 multipurpose sports grounds (2 grounds for soccer, and 1 for rugby, lacrosse, and American football), and 2 futsal courts. From December 2017 until March 2018, Edogawa City carried out renovations on the lighting equipment, changing the night-game lighting to LED after considering the contributions it would make to power conservation and reduced electricity costs, and the absence of workload and expense involved when changing lamps.
LEDioc FLOOD DUELL high-output LED floodlights were installed in place of the previous HID floodlights, using the existing lighting poles and frames to leave the facility's image unchanged. The white light from the HID lamps gave a dim impression, but the strong white color from the LEDs has brightened up the entire facility. The brightness has been kept at the same level, but dimming is now possible, so a brightness level taking into account the maintenance rate has been adopted, which has in turn enabled brightness to be maintained over long time periods. Before the renovations, users had to wait while the lights warmed up when they were turned on, but the upgrade to LED lighting means they can be turned on instantaneously, and feedback on this has been extremely positive. A condition regarding the futsal courts was the use of the existing lighting poles, so the change to LED was made by installing LEDioc TENNISTER lights, which left the impression of the facility unchanged. Instantaneous lighting has also been made possible in the same way for the baseball fields and multipurpose sports grounds, with similar positive feedback also being received.
Sufficient consideration was given to light-leakage in the change to LED lighting, as the surrounding area includes a Ferris wheel and transportation facilities such as an expressway and train line. In particular, the height of the lighting and the height of the expressway are roughly the same, so light-leakage has been controlled by using louvers so that the LED light will not be in the line of sight of drivers. The result has been the creation of a pleasant lighting environment.
