LED lighting brings a comfortable ambience to the golf course and practice areas of a well-equipped members' golf club
Add to My ListSituated in the north-east of Singapore, the Seletar Country Club is a private golf club which was established in 1930 by members of the then Seletar Base Golf Club. In 1993, the Club is renamed Seletar Country Club. In 1995, the golf course expanded to a 18-hole course when the Club relocated to its current location. At the time of the original expansion, IWASAKI's 1000W H567 Series metal halide floodlights were installed to provide the lighting on the 8th, 9th, 17th, and 18th holes. During the golf course redevelopment period from October 2018 to March 2020, LED floodlights were installed to replace the existing 1000W metal halide floodlights to light the courses and practice areas.
Given the relative proximity of the course to the nearby Seletar Airport located less than 3km away, the suppression and minimization of any glare and brightness from the perspective of pilots was a crucial consideration in the planning of the LED upgrades, whilst at the same time ensuring that enough illumination was being provided for golf. Additionally there was a need to ensure the selected LED floodlights meet the load capacity on the existing lighting columns. Having taken these factors into consideration, the solution proposed by ELAP (EYE Lighting Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.) was LEDioc FLOOD SPOLART floodlights, which benefit from the same mounting design as the existing lightweight and compact H567 Series floodlights, and also offer a high degree of wind resistance.
The 18-hole golf course of Seletar Country Club recently won recognition in the 2020 Global Golf Awards as the best renovated golf course in the Asia Pacific Region.
