Located in the Kanazawa Ward of Yokohama City, Nagahama Park is municipal park that has vast grounds to create a harmonious blend between sports and nature. Bisected by the Yokohama-Yokosuka Road, the northern side is home to a comprehensive range of sporting facilities such as fields for ball games, tennis courts, and baseball fields, in addition to relaxing open grass areas and playgrounds; the southern side is also home to a bird-watching garden, making it a popular venue offering a variety of attractions for visitors to enjoy.

The baseball field at the site is widely used by many across all levels, both for practice and competitive matches in formats including softball, rubber-ball baseball and youth baseball, and with a view towards reducing both energy consumption and the burden of maintenance, the municipal authorities completed works to upgrade the lighting installation at the field to LED. The proximity of the field location to an area of rich greenery and housing complexes required careful consideration of avoiding light pollution, and the LEDioc FLOOD AVANT Light Pollution Prevention type class 1000 floodlights selected for the scheme use proprietary light control to prevent light spillage which is a cause of light pollution. Installing an optimal combination of wide, medium, and narrow beam angle types, the scheme has delivered significant energy savings whilst maintaining brightness levels equal on a par with the previous scheme with HID floodlights; the result is a pleasant environment in which play can continue to be enjoyed by night, while suppressing light spillage into the surrounding areas.
