March, 2025

Intended to act not only as a venue for hosting events, but also as a hub for a lifetime of sporting enjoyment, Kakizaki Sports Park is a popular a place for sports and recreation in the local area, equipped with a wide variety of facilities such as Kakizaki Dome multi-purpose sports hall, a multi-purpose field that can accommodate a variety of sports can be held, a baseball field, and an artificial turf ground.

As a key part of its efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions and make advances in energy savings, the city of Joetsu is proactively introducing LED lighting into sporting facilities, and works were carried out under this initiative at the baseball stadium in March 2025 to update its lighting installation to LED. Consideration for the positioning of the stadium within a lush green environment and adjacent to other sporting facilities in the site resulted in the selection of high-efficiency LEDioc FLOOD AVANT class 400 LED floodlights, replacing the existing HID floodlights on a one-for-one basis. A considered combination of floodlighting in wide, medium, and medium-narrow beam angle types has resulted in an efficiently illuminated setting where glare has been suppressed, while also delivering illuminance levels matching and surpassing the existing scheme, with significant energy savings.

Following the update to LED lighting the ground now benefits from a much brighter and pleasant lit environment for night games, where play can continue to be enjoyed even at nighttime.
