Bringing together an all-encompassing range of stores and businesses including a large supermarket with a spacious food court, interiors and furnishing stores, clothes stores, general goods stores, restaurants, a clinic and a cram school, the New Coast Shin-Urayasu retail complex is enjoyed by many across the region both as a place that caters for all manner of everyday needs, and also as a place to relax on days off. Conveniently situated just 7 minutes away from the Urayasu Interchange of the Metropolitan Expressway Bayshore Route, the site also provides free parking for over 1200 vehicles across levels 4, 5, and the rooftop.

Improvement works were carried out at New Coast Shin-Urayasu in May 2022 to update the lighting of the rooftop signage, with LEDioc FLOOD URBANVIEW floodlights replacing the existing HID lamp floodlights. When choosing the LED floodlighting, the decision was made further to assessment of the pre-submitted data to ascertain whether it was capable of fulfilling certain key criteria which included the maintenance of existing light levels, and the uniformity of light. Light levels have increased as a result of the works, and whilst each face of the signage has been allocated five units to illuminate them, two units have often been found to provide ample illuminance, thus helping to deliver further energy savings. With every effort to avoid any unevenness of light, we believe a signage illumination scheme offering highly uniform levels of coverage has been achieved as a result.

New Coast Shin-Urayasu is a retail complex that continues to teem with activity at night, and to illuminate its signage we selected the LEDioc FLOOD URBANVIEW - Vertical Distribution Type floodlights based on their ability to provide illuminance levels matching the existing scheme whilst also limiting any inconsistencies of light. With a rated consumption of 166.1W compared to the 400W being consumed by the metal halide lamps they replaced, the new LED floodlights have delivered energy savings of around 60%; meanwhile brightness levels have increased by 47%, with the highly uniform illumination of the signage further improving visibility of it. With the compact and lightweight luminaires featuring integrated drivers, the need to allocate space for separate power supply units has been negated, in addition to not requiring hard wiring to connect the main luminaire body to a power supply; consequently the installation area now enjoys a much tidier appearance - an indirect benefit which has also been noted and appreciated. With a rated LED module life of 60000hrs, the luminaires also offer the benefits of low maintenance in addition to energy savings.
