Illuminations to accentuate the scenery of every season
Add to My ListNestled amongst the splendor of the mountains around it, Senkyou is a detached lodging situated at Oigami Onsen where the water springs plentifully. Situated along the Katashina Valley by the branch of the Tonegawa River, Oigami Onsen is a site with a storied history - its name of "Oigami" originating from ancient times, where legend had it that the hot springs came to be when the God of Mount Akagi struck the arrow which he had been shot during battle with the God of Mount Nikko Futara, into the Earth. From such legends, it is said by some that Oigami Onsen is a "legendary hot spring opened by the Gods" - perched on the elevated grounds there, the lodge of Senkyou is a haven of calm and serenity stood amongst an expansive green cluster of trees. In order to blend harmoniously into this site brimming with the splendor of nature, the inn is constructed in a traditional Japanese style, exuding a gentle warmth with a delicate touch, and inside, the inn is adorned with flower arrangements to provide a tasteful and refined setting in which customers can relax and enjoy the heartfelt hospitality. With the hot springs benefiting from low alkaline spring water which is gentle on the skin, and a dining menu built around fresh, locally sourced ingredients, visitors can immerse themselves in an experience of serenity to sooth both mind and body.
Senkyou also has a traditional Japanese garden which adds to the sense of seasonal beauty and the depth of nature in the mountains, in addition to a walking route where visitors are greeted by an array of flowers. In October 2022 a new lighting scheme was introduced, in time for the magnificent display of the Maple trees as their leaves turn red. In addition to lighting to highlight the splendor of the Japanese gardens which express themselves with an array of colors across each season, lighting has been provided for the areas around the entrance, and also for the scenery of the open-air baths with a lighting display cognizant of the subtleties of light and shade as it aligns closely with the beauty of nature. For the illuminations, LEDioc FLOOD LUNT and LEDioc FLOOD NEO floodlights both in incandescent color have been utilized, with their soft light working in harmony with their surroundings to create a lit nighttime environment awash with warmth and carefully controlled brightness.
Whenever visiting Oigami Onsen, do make sure to pay a visit to Senkyou.
