Location

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly known as the Mormon church) is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States, and has many church members around the world. Its temples are the most sacred places for church members to worship, and are also where marriage and other ceremonies are performed. The temples number 159 worldwide, including three in Japan - in the cities of Tokyo (currently undergoing renovations planned for completion in 2020), Sapporo and Fukuoka.

At the Fukuoka Temple, which was established in 2000, a change to LED lighting was carried out in March 2018 for the the temple illumination, partly from the perspective of power savings, but also because the equipment had aged and was in need of renovation. 4000K (white) LEDioc FLOOD NEO LED floodlights and LEDioc FLOOD SPOLART lights were installed in place of the existing mercury lamps, realizing significant power savings while maintaining the impression provided by the illumination effects to date. After the upgrade to LED lighting, an attractive lighting environment was able to be created by illuminating the entire temple more effectively with a brightness stronger than that provided previously.

The Fukuoka Temple is located in a verdant and hilly area adjacent to Minami Park, where the Fukuoka City Zoological Garden is located, and the light that solemnly illuminates the silhouette of the building and its beautiful straight lines along with the statue of Angel Moroni creates some impressive nighttime scenery.
