With canals running through into the Bay of Tokyo, and a number of bridges spanning them, Shibaura Konan District offers a charming and interesting setting.

Seeing these waterside spaces as a great local resource, Minato Ward is progressing with works to illuminate these bridges and other key monuments, further enhancing their appeal and in turn stimulating tourism and business activities as well as revitalizing the local community. The lightings, tailored to highlight the unique traits of each bridge, accentuate the colors of the girders with white light as the base, and reflect upon the water the combinations with parts such as the back of the girders to truly bring out their character. The color illuminations of the piers and bridge abutments can be adapted and modified to create different displays to mark weekdays, weekends, and public holidays - as well as special seasons or occasions such as cherry blossom season and Christmas - creating a vibrant and colorful nightscape.

Crossing the Shibaura West Canal, Nagisa Bridge features an unconventional shape, splitting in the middle as it branches into two. The road splits into lanes along the separate branches, following a gentle curve before they rejoin at each end of the bridge. At a length of 90m, the southerly branch of the bridge is the longest bridge for motorized vehicles presently under the management of Minato Ward. Named to synergize with Nagisa Street which leads onto JR Tamachi Station, Nagisa Bridge is situated on the axis between Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge, and is illuminated to reflect its key position within Minato Ward's "Road of Light" vision.
