Situated on its upper stream, the scenery around the Awamata Falls is amongst the finest that can be seen in the Yoro Valley. With a drop of 30m and a length of 100m, the sublimely beautiful sight of the water spraying as it glides down the gentle, slide-like rock face has led to the popular waterfall being renowned for fascinating those who see it. With a nature trail of around 2km established around it, there is ample scope for scenic walks whilst enjoying the beauty of the falls and the valley. Until recently, the illuminations of the late autumn turning of the leaves had been organized and implemented by the Yoro Valley Hot Springs Travel Association - a private enterprise; thanks to a combination of a budget revision in Otaki Town and grants from the national government however, upgrade works have been carried out to make a permanent installation of LED luminaires for lighting displays. Maintenance and management of the scheme going forward has been entrusted to the Yoro Valley Hot Springs Travel Association.

Acting as a gateway to the area, the Yoro Valley Visitors' Center is conducting seasonally themed illuminations as one of the many ways in which visitors are welcomed, and given an appreciation for the splendor of the natural environment offered by Boso Peninsula across all seasons. The color changing LED floodlight LEDioc FLOOD FULL-COLOR has been used to illuminate the cliff face in front of the visitors' center, with light displays to accompany seasons and events in a similar vein to those at the waterfall. Additionally, LEDioc FLOOD FULL-COLOR (single color type; incandescent) has been installed to illuminate the symbolic persimmon tree which is popular with bikers and cyclists as a photo spot.

As they change through events and seasons, it is hoped that the Yoro Valley illuminations will capture the imagination as a new tourist attraction and link to a revitalization of the wider region.
