Location

Kami-Kumamoto Station has both JR Kyushu's Kagoshima Main Line and Kumamoto Electric Railway's Kikuchi Line running into it, making it a major traffic node for the city of Kumamoto. Work is taking place in the vicinity of the station as part of a project currently underway to create serial multi-level crossings along the JR Kagoshima Main Line, and as a result it is expected that the East-West division caused by the railway will be eliminated, allowing uniform development of the metropolitan area to take place. The station-front plaza at Kami-Kumamoto Station's west entrance is the plaza starting point for the Kami-Kumamoto Station West Entrance Line urban planning road, and was put in place in conjunction with the establishment of that road network, opening for joint use on 15 March 2017. For the lighting environment at the West Entrance Stationfront Plaza, LEDioc AREA type-D LED streetlights, which feature a ring-shaped design, were installed as the streetlights to illuminate the pedestrian walkways and traffic circle used by passenger vehicles and taxis, creating the effect of a relaxed atmosphere with their incandescent and gentle light. Location-appropriate LED lighting fixtures have been selected, including compact LEDioc FLOOD NEO LED floodlights to light platforms for embarking and disembarking into/from vehicles and illuminate the area with gentle and indirect light, and neutralcolor LEDioc ROAD roadlights installed to light the roads and increase safety at night. The newly created West Entrance Station-front Plaza is comfortably lit with power saving LED light.
