A change to LED for rail yard lighting achieves improved brightness and significant power savings
Add to My ListThe Rinkai Line is a railway line operated by Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit and connecting 8 stations from Shin-Kiba to Osaki over 12.2km in 19 minutes. It crosses Tokyo Harbor between Tokyo Teleport and Tennozu Isle, connecting the seaside urban sub-center with the established urban zone. It features a highly convenient route with direct operation with the JR Saikyo Line that enables movement from locations including Saitama, Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro to the seaside urban sub-center without needing to transfer. In March of 2018, Tokyo Waterfront Area Rapid Transit carried out a lighting renovation at the Rinkai Line's Yashio Rail Yard, located in Yashio, in Tokyo's Shinagawa Ward.
The timing of the lighting renovation coincided with that for an upgrade of the existing lighting fixtures, so a change to LED was carried out to promote power savings. 2 units of 80W LEDioc FLOOD BLITZ LED floodlights were installed in place of the existing twin mercury lamps installed on the overhanging power racks. Furthermore, LEDioc FLOOD NEO class 60 lights have been installed where needed as area lights, achieving large-scale power savings.
Since the upgrade to LED lighting, the area is very bright, increasing safety at night and contributing to an improved work environment.
