Situated in the Bunkyo Ward of Tokyo, the Koishikawa Railyard of Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. is where scheduled maintenance and vehicle inspection works for carriages used on the Marunouchi Line of the Tokyo Metro are carried out. Found between Myogadani Station and Korakuen Station on one of the overground sections of the Marunouchi Line, passengers are able to see the vast 30680m² site from windows on the right hand side of the train when travelling in the direction of Korakuen Station.

As part of its efforts towards energy savings, Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. is in the process of upgrading the lighting inside its stations, inside its train carriages, and across its station linked facilities; the transition to LED is also being implemented at its rail depots as part of this process, and the works carried out in February 2021 at Koishikawa Railyard saw the installation of LEDioc FLOOD BLITZ 80W LED floodlights to replace the existing mercury vapor lamps. Additionally, for the maintenance management of the overground section the LED security light LEDioc STREET 20VA has been used for the rail track lighting, providing a level of illuminance equivalent to the previous installation whilst achieving a low-energy, low maintenance lighting environment.

With a residential area in its immediate vicinity, the LED upgrade works were implemented with careful consideration given to beam angles and light distribution, so as to avoid light spillage into the surrounding areas whilst also minimizing glare levels for the train drivers and workers at the depot. With energy consumption more than halved following the change to LED lighting, large-scale energy savings have been achieved whilst also contributing towards improved safety with the rail depot enjoying bright light levels even at night.
