about

The Daisen Factory of Daisen Beverage Co., Ltd. is a water bottling plant built to produce "Mori no Mizu Dayori", a mineral water brand owned by the Coca-Cola company. The water is harvested 150m below ground as it continually springs from the beautiful surrounding area of Mt. Daisen. The Daisen Factory uses state-of-the-art bottling systems under strict sanitation control. Being mineral water, the product is odorless and the introduction of the latest in bottling systems means that the chances of insects contaminating the product are almost zero. Then the possibility of insects being caught in the labelling process was considered. Specifically, lamps called "Eco Yellow", a yellow-colored high pressure sodium lamp that repels insects, were installed on the exterior walls of the production line building. Conversely, pole lights fitted with metal halide lamps, which attract insects, were erected outside around the premises to attract any insects reducing the number of insects flying into the plant. Also, the storerooms were fitted with low insect-attracting Metal Halide lamps (UV Cut Metal Halide Lamp), to keep insects away while the clear, white light of the lamps was considered to create a visual environment that does not detract from ease of work.
