  • Transfer platform, where rails have been laid at ground level, with a jack raising the body before removing the carriages and transferring to an adjacent rail using a turntable, where inspections and wheel milling can be conducted. The space is illuminated by LEDioc HIGH-BAY Γ luminaires mounted on the ceiling to create a favorable working environment.

  • LEDioc HIGH-BAY Γ 145W luminaires in situ.

  • LEDioc HIGH-BAY Γ 120W luminaires, which provide illuminance levels equivalent to 400W metal halide lamps and contribute greatly towards energy savings.

  • Delivery inspection warehouse, which houses one line for full inspection and two lines for delivery inspection. The rails are set at an elevated position to allow for visual inspection of the undercarriage and the carriage itself from the space beneath it. The LEDioc HIGH-BAY Γ 120W luminaires installed on the high ceilings provide bright, uniform illuminance levels making it possible to conduct comprehensive inspections and maintenance works at any level from floor to ceiling.

  • The depot is brightly illuminated with LED light, increasing safety levels at night.

  • LEDioc FLOOD NEO floodlights illuminate the routes and lines within the depot.

  • LEDioc FLOOD SPOLART floodlights, which offer high-efficiency, high-output and a long product life.

  • Night view of the routes within the depot, where the space is efficiently illuminated with cool white color LEDioc ROAD S luminaires.

  • LEDioc ROAD S street luminaires maintain the brightness of the space whilst suppressing glare.

about

Installation date

March, 2022

Served by the Omura Depot which was opened in September 2022, the West Kyushu Shinkansen which makes up part of the Kyushu Shinkansen* network was established as a route to serve the Western part of Kyushu, linking around 66km between Takeo Onsen** and Nagasaki City with a minimum journey time of 23 minutes; a reduction of around 30 minutes in journey time between Hakata City and Nagasaki City has also been made possible through a simple transfer to the rapid express train on the conventional rail line at Takeo Onsen Station, bringing the overall journey time down to 1 hour 20 minutes at its most rapid. It is anticipated that the opening of the new Shinkansen line will not only serve to stimulate economic growth and promote tourism to the area, but also encourage developments along the route and eventually act as a catalyst for population growth in the area. Travelling along the line which serves the 5 stations of Takeo Onsen, Ureshino Onsen, Shin-Omura, Isahaya, and Nagasaki, the N700S Kamome carriages of the West Kyushu Shinkansen sport an original design which places the red corporate color of the JR Kyushu Company upon a base tone of white.

Built on the northern side of Shin-Omura Station in Omura City, Nagasaki Prefecture, the depot also features adjacent to it on its western side the newly opened conventional line Omura Depot Station. With a site area spanning around 109000m², the depot is around 1km in length and 170m in breadth at its widest point; it houses two detention lines, warehousing areas for works, alternating and general inspection (delivery inspection warehouse), platform truck transfer area, temporary repair area, wheel mills, paint shop, general office, communications equipment room, and it is also equipped with a maintenance base adjacent to it.

With a view to achieving energy savings and reductions in CO₂ emissions, LED was chosen to provide the lighting solutions at the Omura Depot premises, where a wide range of activities such as site works and alternating inspections, temporary inspections, platform truck transfers, carriage body inspection and repair works take place. In the delivery inspection warehouse, square type LEDioc HIGH-BAY Γ luminaires have been installed to provide a bright uniform light across the space, which houses a jack raising mechanism for the carriages with an elevated turntable where the detachment and interchanging of carriages and wheel milling can be carried out, with each line installed in an elevated position to enable visual inspection of the undercarriages from beneath. Additionally, LEDioc FLOOD SPOLART and LEDioc FLOOD NEO floodlights as well as LEDioc ROAD S street luminaires have been variously deployed across the site and its routes, seeking to match the most appropriate luminaires to each location to deliver the most suitable illuminance levels and create lighting conditions that remain favorable through nighttime hours.
