Edogawa City Track & Field Stadium is an athletics stadium with a 400m, 8-lane track officially recognized as Class-3 by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF), a natural-grass field that can be used for a variety of purposes, including rugby, soccer, and lacrosse, stands that can accommodate approximately 7000 spectators, and nighttime lighting equipment. It is used by many not only for various track and field events, but also for a wide range of other purposes such as Japan Rugby Top League games, the All-Japan Lacrosse Championships, Kanto Soccer League games, and local sports events.

In March 2019, the night-lighting system underwent an overhaul, and the night-game lighting was upgraded to LED lighting. The 4 lighting-tower pillars were kept in place, and the existing HID floodlights replaced with the same number of 560W type LEDioc FLOOD DUELL high-power LED floodlights, ensuring at least the same level of brightness as before. Edogawa Ward is actively promoting SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in order to realize an inclusive society where everyone can live in peace and safety, and the switch to LED night-game lighting, which will bring down power consumption and contribute to the reduction of CO₂ emissions, is part of this effort. There are highways and houses in the vicinity, so when making the change to LED, the angles for the lights were limited after proper consideration of light-bleed, and care was taken to enable existing operation to continue, with the number of lighting patterns set to 8, the same number as before. Instead of the previous lighting pattern having every second lamp turned off, dimming has been added to improve uniformity and create a better lighting environment.

The upgrade to LED lighting has been well received by users of the stadium, who comment on how brightness and visibility have improved, and we believe that we have been able to create a safe and more comfortable environment while also promoting power conservation.
