Tokyo College of Wellness Sciences is a long-established vocational school that opened in 1984 and has two courses: a "Nutritionist Course" and a "Health Sports Course". Looking ahead to the expected arrival of a society in which people live longer, and based on the notion that new kinds of "health promotion leaders" will be needed, the school is training sports and nutrition professionals with a comprehensive grasp of the three pillars of health promotion: "Nutrition", "Exercise", and "Recuperation".

The school's affiliated Wellness Sports Center has a 25m×5-lane indoor heated pool, and aims to train leaders including sports trainers and instructors by providing them with the necessary specialized knowledge and leadership skills. Furthermore, in terms of contributing to the local community, it operates a swimming school for people of a wide range of ages, from infants to the elderly.

In August 2019, the Center carried out renovation work on the heated pool's lighting, replacing the existing mercury lamp/high pressure sodium lamp mixed lighting with LEDioc μs LED lighting fixtures for indoor pool use. In making the change to LED lighting, the swimmers were the most important consideration, and after investigating fixtures that didn't give a sense of glare, and bearing in mind the need for a bright and safe lighting environment, the Center selected the above lighting fixtures, which feature a light emitting surface that suppresses glare. The upgrade to LED lighting has been well received by users, who comment on how brighter it has become. Furthermore, the change to LED lighting has made it possible to turn the lighting on or off instantaneously, so this contribution to further power savings has also been well-received.
