  • Lighting for the 6 lane, 25 meter length indoor pool is provided by the highly corrosion-resistant LEDioc FLOOD NEO (Indoor Pool Use) and LEDioc LED Downlight (Under Eaves Use), resulting in a lighting environment that is both low consumption and visually pleasing.

Installation date

April, 2022

Opened April 2022 in Shimoirino Town, Mito City, the Shimoirino Health Promotion Center was established as to be a place of rest and health development for citizens. Set within a vast site of 26219.05m², the well-equipped building spans a total floor area of 4699.97m² and features facilities such as an indoor pools, multi-purpose rooms, conference rooms, a children’s room, while the outdoor area also offers a 'ground golf' course.

The building was designed around the following fundamental principles: (1) To create a place for people of the area to meet and connect; (2) Stimulate the number of visitors from the area and beyond; (3) Ensure the facility is accessible and easy to use for the area’s residents; (4) To create something consistent with its surrounding landscape. The resulting outer structure comprised of glass has created a highly transparent building that is open to its surroundings. Additionally in seeking to create a sense of harmony with the surrounding environment of forests and fields, the gently sloped roof was designed with minimal eaves, and is based on a black and white color scheme to achieve a traditionally Japanese aesthetic. The indoor pool area which includes an infant pool and a hot water pool in addition to the 25m swimming pool, is illuminated by LEDioc FLOOD NEO (Indoor Pool Use) floodlights, and LEDioc LED Downlight (Under Eaves Use) units, providing average illuminance levels of 300ℓx. Adaptable to meet a variety of requirements, ranging from the full-output setting used during occasions such as swimming lessons, to the energy-conscious reduced output setting for everyday use, through to a more grown-up and chic ambiance of the evening setting, the scheme has been designed to offer the optimal visual environments with which the setting can be enjoyed. With the luminaires all being installed on the sloped roof, they have been housed in stainless steel containers to create a flat finish and give a clean appearance to the ceiling surface.

The outdoor lighting is provided by LEDioc APPROACH QUALLIS type-D along the garden pathways, and LEDioc AREA mitis C for the spacious parking area with combined capacity for 206 regular and large cars, all in the warm white color which was selected to provide a sense of security whilst also creating a calming atmosphere in harmony with its verdant surroundings.
