Location

Situated in Konan City, Kochi Prefecture, Noichi Gymnasium is surrounded by greenery and adjoins the Noichi Zoological Park which is amongst the most popular in the country. The complex spans an overall floor area of 1130.22m² with its arena providing ample space within which 2 volleyball courts, 6 badminton courts, 2 basketball courts, and 8 table tennis tables can be accommodated; it is widely used for a variety of sports and also as a venue for hosting a broad range of events.

The City carried out works in March 2022 to update the lighting in the arena to LED, and with a remit to maintain the illuminance levels provided by the existing embedded downlights (400W metal halide / 270W high-pressure sodium), the high- efficiency, high output LEDioc HIGH-BAY Λ 180W type luminaires were eventually chosen through the selection process. Given that a direct one-for-one replacement scheme would see the illuminance levels rising up to 1800ℓx from the existing 1100ℓx, the scheme has been designed to incorporate a manually operated dimming switch to allow for the adjustment of illuminance levels.

Offering step-free dimming from 15% - 100% of rated output, a warm and pleasant lighting environment where light levels can be tailored to a variety of uses and applications has been created, whilst also achieving energy savings.
