Location

Located on the southernmost tip of Aomori Prefecture and blessed with lush nature, Takko Town has a thriving garlic-production industry, and is known nationwide as the "Town of Garlic." In December of 2015, LED streetlights were installed in the shopping district along Fesan Street, which runs from infront of the town hall in the town center to in front of the Garlic Center. The previously installed streetlights had been removed due to old age, and because it was the center of the town, the new streetlights were installed in essentially the same locations, allowing the shopping district to be reborn as one that issafe, comfortable, and more pedestrian-friendly. The shopping district tenants and the local administration collaborated on the installation, and after repeated testing decided to choose LEDioc AREA type-G (color-adjustable) streetlights.The light color can be changed to suit times, seasons, and events, and is contributing to the revitalization of the town with light that provides a feeling of energy. A light-adjustment function that enables automatic adjustment of brightness depending on the time was also chosen for the LED streetlights.Furthermore, flag-arms and waterproof AC power outlets have been combined on all lighting poles, enabling the creation of illumination-display effects, with illumination-displays and events making use of the streetlights already havingtaken place. The LEDioc AREA type-G (color-adjustable) lights have a characteristic ring-shaped design, and by selecting wide spanand horizontal light distribution models, the design delivers light in both the forward and side directions to ensure sufficient brightness for even the narrow pedestrian walkways, and the consensus is that power savings have been achieved while alsocreating a pleasant lighting environment that will assist with the revitalization of the shopping district.
