Pacific Golf Management Co., Ltd. (PGM) is one of the largest golf course management companies in Japan, owning and operating 150 courses across the country from Hokkaido to Okinawa. As part of its efforts to counter against the extreme heat of recent summers, PGM has been expanding the number of its golf courses that are open at night. With seven of its courses already open at night, expansion of the program to courses including the Imperial Country Club (Inashiki City, Ibaraki Prefecture), Tajimi Kita Golf Club (Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture), Mukonodai Golf Course (Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture), and Fukuoka Lakeside Country Club (Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture), has brought the total number of courses open at night to 12. Since operating the scheme, it has been noted that the opening of the courses at night has helped to attract a broader range of customers, with an increasing proportion of younger people and women compared to the usual daytime clients. To further increase familiarity with the scheme for all, PGM has standardized the designation of the program as "Night Golf", seeking to encourage yet more new golfers. A major attraction of night golf is the fantastically illuminated atmosphere, which provides an ambience different from that which is enjoyed in the daytime. In addition to providing a beautiful setting, temperatures are cooler and more comfortable than the daytime, and with no need to worry about UV rays, it is particularly good for those who may be concerned about sunburn.

The quiet and the tranquillity of the course at night can also help improve concentration and provide a different challenge, while another advantage is the possibility of playing after work and not being limited to daylight hours. Installed in 2024, the lighting scheme incorporates the latest LED lighting technology and delivers a high design illuminance of over 150ℓx in the tee area, over 50ℓx along the fairways, and over 150ℓx on the greens, making it one of the brightest in Japan. The flight of the ball and the undulations of the green can be seen more clearly than ever, allowing for a comfortable playing environment.

Making the most of the terrain around Lake Kasumigaura, the course at the Imperial Country Club features a flat design with an elevation difference of only 2 meters across it. Located around 50 minutes by car from the Tokyo metropolitan area and around 10 minutes from the Inashiki Interchange on the Ken-O Expressway, the venue is easily accessible and offers the possibility of enjoying a game of night golf after work. The 27-hole course features over 100 bunkers, but with its wide fairways and greens and hazards that are clearly visible from the teeing area, players are able to tackle the courses with an effective tactical approach. Starting in December 2024, the Imperial Country Club became the first course in Ibaraki Prefecture to offer night golf, with the latest LED lighting being installed on 18 of the 27 holes to allow players to enjoy golfing beyond daylight hours. LEDioc FLOOD AVANT class 400 LED floodlights have been selected to provide the main lighting across the course, while the use of LEDioc FLOOD NEO FULL-COLOR floodlights around the course and around the clubhouse to provide colored displays, and LEDioc FLOOD SPOLART floodlights to highlight the logo, combined to create a lighting scheme that further enhances the enjoyment of night golf.
