High-chroma and high color-rendering, incandescent Class-40 LEDioc FLOOD NEO Vivid LED floodlights have been installed to illuminate the cherry blossoms on Chidorigafuchi Green Way.
Chidorigafuchi Green Way, one of the best places to view cherry blossoms in Tokyo, is a lush promenade that stretches for 700 meters along the moat on the west side of the Imperial Palace. The Chiyoda Cherry Blossom Festival is held every year around the end of March to the beginning of April - the best time to see the cherry blossoms - and during the period from March 27 (Wed) to April 7 (Sun), 2019, it bustled with approximately 1.3 million visitors from Japan and overseas who had come to see the flowers in bloom.
LED illumination enables enjoyment of the cherry blossoms at night, and the main lighting for this year's illumination was provided by high-chroma and high color-rendering, incandescent Class-40 LEDioc FLOOD NEO Vivid LED floodlights. They feature superior color reproduction compared with conventional LED lighting, and were chosen because the fixtures themselves are compact and have light distribution that is ideal for the location. Their use has made it possible to produce a magical nighttime landscape that is different from what can be seen during the day. Furthermore, with cooperation from the Ministry of the Environment, 190W type LEDioc FLOOD BLITZ (neutral-color) LED floodlights have been used to cast light upon the sloped stone walls of the moat to more effectively illuminate the cherry blossoms blooming in Kitanomaru Park on the opposite side of the moat.
The lighting fixtures for this year's Cherry Blossom Festival were upgraded to enable effects to change the colors of the light shone on the inside and outside of Chidorigafuchi Green Way, and this highlighted the beauty of the cherry blossoms all the more, so visitors were probably able to enjoy the cherry blossoms of Chidorigafuchi Green Way in a different way from those in the past.
