With the Sea of Japan to its west, and 1000m-tall mountain ranges to its north and south, Setana is a town with one of the richest natural environments in Hokkaido. In March of 2015, the Setana Chamber of Commerce and Industry carried out renovation work on the streetlights in the Setana urban area alongside National Route 229, with LEDioc AREA type-D LED streetlights installed in place of the existing streetlights with mercury-lamp light sources. Their ring-shaped design enables effective control of light distribution in all directions, improving brightness, and their simple design has created a scenic townscape with a relaxed atmosphere. Changing the streetlights to LED has achieved power savings and reductions in power consumption, and at the same time has created a visual environment that allows people safe passage with peace-of-mind at night.
