Iwasaki LEDs re-light a university's outdoor lighting system
Add to My ListThe Nagaoka Institute of Design, located in Niigata, is Japan's only public university specializing in design and architecture. In November 2015, the university commissioned a campus-wide relighting project for walkways and parking areas. The existing lighting was dark, and students had requested brighter and better lighting. LEDioc AREA type-D LED streetlights were specified; 22 pole top luminaires were retrofitted, and one new pole installed. The goal was a smart design that saved energy, and the result was an attractive and refined appearance provided by an eco friendly LED light source. LEDioc AREA type-D lights have a distinctive ring shape, and were selected by university faculty and staff after reviewing several alternative designs. The forms were refined in great detail, including making the light poles resemble tree trunks to match the campus environment. Simple and functional LED lighting is highly popular on university campuses around the world... delivering energy savings, better quality of light, increased safety, and long life.
