High-bay Lighting Hall Lighting
Kanda University of International Studies No. 7 Building First-Floor LibraryChiba City, Chiba Prefecture
Lighting a library with a new concept of "the library as a place for learning" with warm, incandescent LED lighting to create a cozy lighting environment
Add to My ListLocated on the campus of Kanda University of International Studies, the No.7 Building was completed in September of 2008, and is an educational facility for studying foreign languages and communication. The first floor has a library, while the second floor has a mock-exchange space MULC (Multilingual Communication Center), as well as a hall and seminar rooms, and the third floor has a cafe. The fourth floor serves as the entrance to the rooftop garden, which offers a panoramic view of the richly verdant campus in its entirety from the terrace. In September of last year, work took place at Kanda University of International Studies to change the lighting for the first-floor library to LED, with the high-ceiling lighting that lights what is called the bower area in the center just inside the entrance to the library being upgraded to LED lighting. The previous lighting used 150W metal halide lamps suspended on chain fixtures, but they were changed to LED because they weren't very bright and were work-intensive when the lamps had to be changed. 100W LEDioc LED EYE LAMP SP-W lights compliant with crystal shades (EYE CRYSTAL BEAM) were installed in the same positions, with an incandescent color used in order to respect the warm and comfortable atmosphere. It is believed that the atmosphere has been preserved while achieving increased brightness together with power and maintenance savings.
