Spanning a total area of around 750000m², the Tokyo Freight Terminal Station situated at Yashio in Shinagawa Ward is the largest dedicated freight terminal for shipping containers in Japan. Adjoining the Port of Tokyo and Haneda International Airport, it fulfils a role as a core logistics hub for the Tokyo metropolitan area in addition to being one of the key transit hubs connecting freight deliveries across the whole country.

The terminal features five container platforms of around 600m in length and 40m in breadth, constructed as cargo loading lines with tracks on either side. On the platforms, cargo is loaded using forklift trucks in preparation for dispatch to all corners of the country.

In March 2022 the Japan Freight Railway Company carried out improvement works to the lighting installations which illuminate the container platforms, updating from the existing HID floodlights to LEDioc FLOOD SPOLART floodlights. With high-output, high-efficiency, and a luminaire design reminiscent of an HID floodlight, the LED floodlights brightly illuminate the premises to maintain safe working conditions during nighttime hours as well as helping deliver reductions in energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, with the result being a lighting environment befitting of a freight terminal tackling the challenges of sustainable logistics.
