Toyonaka City UV SterilizerToyonaka City, Osaka
Introduction of a UV sterilizer to allow underwater life to flourish
Add to My ListToyonaka City is a core city located in the northwestern part of Osaka Prefecture. With the inaugural competitions for high school baseball, rugby and soccer having been held there, it is the birthplace of high school sports. Its broad range of regional transport options includes Osaka International Airport, expressways and arterial roads, as well as railways and fixed-route buses, making it very convenient in terms of transport access, and being located 5 - 15km from Osaka's city center, it has developed as a typical residential city.
With such a background, Toyonaka City has been working on sewerage projects as a priority policy in its urban planning, and has built the Shin-Teshima River Water Parkway, which features an artificial "stream" that uses highly treated water from the sewage treatment plant as its water source, as part of its waterway projects mindful not only of water-usage and flooding control, but also a sense of affinity for water. However, because aquatic life could not flourish in the environment due to the effects of chemical sterilization, the STERI-EYE W UV Flowing-Water Sterilizer was introduced as an alternative. As a result, the water quality improved and aquatic life including Dark Chub fish and Japanese Mitten crabs flourished, and now families can be seen enjoying the waterside areas. Since water sterilization with ultraviolet rays does not affect water quality the way chemical sterilization does, its merit is clean sterilization that is extremely rational and speedy.
