  • Nighttime view of Fukuyama Castle Park, located to the north of JR Fukuyama Station and looking up at Fukuyama Castle at its center. The LEDioc APPROACH TOLICA-L approach lights and LEDioc ROAD M street luminaires installed around the park have been equipped with smart lighting systems featuring communication capabilities that enable more efficient management operations and precision dimming controls.

  • Fukuyama Castle Park is a popular spot with numerous cultural facilities including art and literary museums, and a peaceful setting of tranquility by night is provided around its seating benches thanks to the warm color tones of the light provided by LEDioc APPROACH TOLICA-L approach lighting fixtures.

  • The LEDioc AREA TOLICA-L pole top luminaires installed around Fukuyama Castle Park ensure brightness on the road surface whilst suppressing upward light spill.

  • The area around the steps of Fukuyama Castle Park is illuminated with LEDioc ROAD M street luminaires, providing energy savings together with an enhanced sense of security by night.

  • The Rose Park features arches of varying sizes to create a three-dimensional effect with the roses, and with their understated design the LEDioc AREA TOLICA-L pole top luminaires installed across it blend in with the landscape to provide a comfortable lighting environment for strolling by night.

The Fukuyama City Park Facilities Digitalization Project is an initiative to streamline park management within the city and improve convenience for citizens, through the implementation of digital technologies. City authorities are proactively advancing the conversion of public facilities - including parks - to LED lighting and as part of this initiative, the exterior lighting installations at Fukuyama Castle Park, Rose Park, and Midorimachi Park were upgraded to LED in March 2025, delivering energy savings and reducing maintenance requirements. In addition to LED conversion, smart lighting systems with communication facilities have been implemented in the park lighting; allowing for the remote control of functions such as turning on and off of lights, changing of schedules and monitoring of malfunctions, these aid with the streamlining of management operations and also support precision dimming controls. Furthermore in recognition of existing inconsistencies in brightness levels across the large park area, illuminance levels have been revised to match usage patterns and the characteristics of different areas, creating a well-balanced lighting environment that prioritizes safety and comfort.

The project utilizes a lighting management system to manage lighting via a digital map, and through this system the "Fukuyama Park Directory" was jointly developed between Iwasaki Electric Co., Ltd. and Chugoku Advertising Planning Co., Ltd. An information site covering information on over 700 parks in the city, it features an inquiries function to facilitate communication between parks managers, and also functionality to provide citizens with park information. The inquiries function enables the status of park facilities - such as damage or malfunction - to be visualized through attached photographs, thereby making the location easier to pinpoint. The park information feature includes convenient functions that allow users to easily research parks, verify their locations, view photos of them, search for directions, and also filter through criteria such as the type of playground equipment installed or the availability of multipurpose restrooms; the feature also offers the facility to promptly disseminate important information regarding park use, further strengthening information delivery. Feedback from citizens who have used the site has been widely positive, including comments from some users that the site had allowed them to discover parks that were previously unknown to them.

Through the integration of smart lighting with digital management, lighting at the parks has been optimized and management operations have been enhanced.
