Established in Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture, the Namie Green Ammonia Integrated Controlled Demonstration Field is a demonstration plant whose purpose is to produce green ammonia production technologies utilizing hydrogen derived from renewable energies which are gaining attention as a next-generation energy source, and also to act as a place to trial and establish the techniques required for the advanced controls of its operation and delivery.

Construction of the Namie Green Ammonia Integrated Controlled Demonstration Field was completed by the JGC Holdings Corporation in November 2025, and following trial operations, commenced green ammonia production in January 2026. The plant is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2026, and the technologies and knowledge gained there are expected to form an important foundation for the future widespread adoption of green ammonia, leading to the actualization of a decarbonized society.

The lighting installations within the plant were all selected and designated to be appropriate to their respective applications and installation environments, with the installed luminaires including enhanced safety explosion-proof LED lighting fixtures, pressure resistant explosion-proof lighting fixtures, LED base lights, and LED streetlights. The planning process was centered on prioritizing the safety of those working on site, and implemented with careful considerations made through repeated illuminance calculations and fixture placement simulations based on the conditions of each work area, the optimal type, number, and installation positioning of lighting fixtures. The resulting scheme is a safe lighting environment with high levels of visibility that takes into account the unique environment of the plant, providing reliable illuminance for the demonstration site of next generation energies.
