Situated in Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama City, the Ohgishima LNG Terminal of Tokyo Gas Ltd. is a facility where imported LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is vaporized and then adjusted for quality before being redistributed as mains supply gas. Housing one of the largest subterranean LNG tanks in the world, the facility has provided years of continuously reliable and stable service since operations were commenced in 1998. Unlike oil and coal, natural gas does not emit any of the sulfur oxides that are a cause of air pollution, and with low levels of nitrogen oxide and CO₂ emissions, it is a clean source of energy.

Planning for the continuation of stable operations for many more years ahead, Tokyo Gas Ltd. diligently undertakes an ongoing and continuous maintenance regime at its facility, which includes scheduled inspections, comprehensive disassembly and reassembly inspections, repairs, and facilities maintenance. As part of this regime lighting renovation works were carried out across the facility from April 2021 to March 2023, with the existing explosion proof fluorescent lighting fixtures being replaced by explosion proof LED luminaires.

With the carefully considered installation of fixtures such as LEDioc EX DIO Z1, Z2 and LEDioc EX VONO across each zone, the facilities are safely and brightly illuminated while running costs and energy consumption levels are reduced.
