The LUSCA Chigasaki building, adjacent to the Chigasaki train station, reopened in November 2015 following a major renovation which doubled its retail floor space. The Kawakami Shoten bookstore is located on the fifth floor. The new store lighting had a dual objective for the business- save money on the electric bill, and create an inviting atmosphere for customers to read, browse and shop. LEDioc was selected for the project, and the lighting design included LED downlights for increased brightness and visibility. The indirect lighting achieves soft, even coverage in the bookshelf aisles and open areas (such as the stationery department.) LEDioc LED universal downlights are compact and adjustable, and can provide color similar to incandescent. Both types of LEDioc fixtures reduce glare in retail space, especially the indirect lighting installed around the perimeter walls.
