Spanning around 30 hectares, Saitama Stadium 2002 Park features not only the eponymous stadium as its centerpiece, but also three sub-grounds and two futsal courts, and is a park geared towards the enjoyment of soccer. The park also features a grass-covered Kids Square and Abies Square, as well as a jogging course and a 3-on-3 court, making it a venue that can also be enjoyed as a park for rest and relaxation by the wider general public.

Saitama Stadium 2002 has implemented a number of initiatives in its ongoing drive to be an environmentally conscious stadium, and lighting upgrade works to replace the existing HID lighting scheme with LED lighting were carried out on the exterior illuminations of the stadium with a view to promoting energy savings. With luminaires selected so as to be appropriate to the particular requirements of the different areas where they were installed - including the placement of LEDioc AREA ALIVIO pole lights in the parking area, and the use of compact and lightweight LEDioc ROAD S street luminaires to illuminate the routes within the park grounds - existing illuminance levels were maintained and surpassed whilst also achieving energy savings vis-a-vis the existing scheme.

For the lighting of the exterior of the stadium where colored displays had previously been achieved through the use of colored filters with HID floodlights, the introduction of LEDioc FLOOD FULL-COLOR floodlights with their ability to shift nimbly and smoothly across a broad spectrum of colors has opened up the possibility of producing a kaleidoscopic array of lighting arrangements, whilst also reducing consumption. With ten different lighting patterns programmed into the ITACS-LC lighting controls system, displays can be produced through simple controls to suit a number of varying events and occasions - including the red display to represent the club colors of J League side Urawa Reds who call Saitama Stadium 2002 home, or the blue which represents the Japanese National Soccer Team.
