about

Installation date

March, 2022

Founded in 1949, Niigata University is a National University rich in history and tradition. The university combines 10 faculties and 5 postgraduate departments, spread across Ikarashi Campus located in the west of Niigata City, and Asahimachi Campus which is located in the center of the city and acts as the main campus.

With a view to reducing its energy consumption, Niigata University undertook improvement works on the exterior lighting across the Ikarashi Campus premises in March 2022, upgrading to LED lighting. Ikarashi Campus is situated in a rich natural environment surrounded by greenery, and views over the Sea of Japan and Sado Island can also be enjoyed from the upper floors of its buildings; spanning an area of around 600000m², the size of the vast site is said to be approximately 13 times that of the Tokyo Dome.

Offering the flexibility to freely customize parameters such as brightness and color temperature and presenting an abundance of possible arrangements, LEDioc AREA TOLICA-L street luminaires were selected to deliver the exterior lighting. Providing the light to create a safe and reassuring environment within the campus grounds at night, the combination of incandescent color light with a milky white globe for glare minimization has helped to produce a warm and calming environment.
