Maeda Road Construction Co., Ltd. is an enterprise that contributes to the maintenance of civil infrastructure with a focus on asphalt pavement for locations all over Japan, including roads, airports, parks, sports and leisure facilities, and parking lots. Part of the Tokyo Branch, the Chiba Composite Materials Factory is where the production of asphalt composite materials such as virgin asphalt and recycled asphalt takes place, as well as the crushing of scrap for those same materials, and in January of 2017, the company carried out lighting renovations to change the lighting for the factory to LED. There had been an overall drop in brightness at the factory site, so the existing mercury lamps were upgraded to LED lighting from the perspective of safety and to aim for improved brightness. Suitable LED lighting fixtures were installed according to location, including 130W LEDioc FLOOD NEO LED floodlights for the factory's building-internal lighting and 210W LEDioc FLOOD SPOLART lights installed on top of silos to illuminate the premises. Consideration was also given to the angles of the floodlights so that the drivers of the trucks constantly entering and leaving the premises would not feel any glare. Furthermore, in order for the factory's location to be easily visible when viewed from afar at night, new signboard lighting was installed to increase visibility, using wide-angle LEDioc FLOOD NEO lights in a high-intensity design. Both the premises and factory interior have become much brighter after the upgrade to LED lighting, and the consensus is that large-scale power savings are being achieved while also contributing to improvements to the safe and comfortable work environment.
