High-power LED floodlights contribute to power savings while effectively lighting a sports ground installed with artificial turf

Kwansei Gakuin University is composed of 11 undergraduate departments and 14 graduate schools. It has campuses in the cities of Nishinomiya, Sanda and Takarazuka in Hyogo Prefecture; in Minoh City in Osaka Prefecture; in Osaka's Umeda district; and in Tokyo's Marunouchi district. The Kobe Sanda campus is located in the abundantly green environment of Sanda City, which is located on the northern side of Mt. Rokko. In July of last year, the Kobe Sanda campus upgraded its Sports Ground which adjoins its athletics field. The Sports Ground sees use for a variety of purposes, including field hockey and soccer. The upgrade work saw it changed from a dirt-ground to artificial turf and new night-game lighting was installed. High-power 1000W LEDioc FLOOD DUELL LED floodlights were selected and now effectively light the sports ground at night with power-saving LED light. Combining the LED floodlights with the ground's netting poles has proved economical while also ensuring the necessary uniform brightness, which has a set level of 200Lx. The LED lighting is capable of being turned on or off as required leading to further power savings and maintenance requirements are reduced due to a long operating life rating of 40000 hours. These benefits were key point of focus for the university, which considers itself as having created a bright and user-friendly night-game lighting environment.
